NYC Cupcake Toppers

I really enjoyed making these NYC themed cupcake toppers! They had to travel across the state line where they could finally meet up with their other half! --Making these toppers is where my idea launched to accommodate someone if they're only looking for the edible decorations. Mickey Cake for Make-A-Wish

I felt so honored when I was able to donate a cake to Austin through Make-A-Wish Foundation. I have always felt like there must be something more out there for me, something that mattered. I never imagined how unbelievably fulfilling the experience could be. Although I didn't meet Austin personally, by having two children of my own and seeing how excited they get over a cake, I knew Austin would truly appreciate it! My heart aches for families who have to deal with illness --especially when it falls onto undeserving children.

Rustic Wedding Cake

I was elated to make my nephew's wedding cake! For this cake, I made the fondant flowers with jewelled centers. Of course, being the "rednecks" that we are, my brother-in-law went out and cut the wooden base for this cake. I can't believe how expensive those things are! Everything was so beautiful, I wish I had taken more pictures! They used different sizes of the rustic cuts for the cookie table! Makayla (the bride) told me she bought the topper from Etsy!--If you've never checked it out, you should!! (www.etsy.com)

Here are my two sweetie pies!! :) They had a blast dressing up for the wedding and Kylie actually had a blister on her foot from dancing so much! ...I must mention -Makayla did an awesome job with the pinterest inspired tutu!!

Motocross Sheet Cake

I recently purchased the Wilton markers, and I am so glad I did! I used them to draw the dirt bike and the motocross sign. Previously, I used a toothpick, dipped it into food color and drew on the fondant. It took forever!!

Here is the finished cake. It annoys me that you can see the popsicle sticks on the dirt bike! I inserted two toothpicks in the tires, but wasn't sure if that was enough support or not..Which is why I also insterted the popsicle sticks. What can I say --I'm still learning! :) I'm not sure if this will ever change, but it feels like I learn something new with every cake I make...

Chocolate Strawberry Parfait

Well, I must say, I'm so lucky to have a 10 year old step-sister to entertain my 6 year old son and 4 year old daughter! Alicia is the sweetest little girl and actually wanted to come visit and stay the night! I apologized for being a "boring big sister" as I was finishing up a cake, but she told me she was excited to watch me! My kids get bored with it, so it was nice to have someone interested in what I was doing! Once the cake was picked up, I told the kids if they wanted, they could pick out any recipe from my collection of cook books and we could try something new! They decided on a parfait, so here's my version:

Chocolate Strawberry Parfaits

2 pkg. instant chocolate pudding
4 c. milk
16 oz. strawberries (I used frozen, but would prefer fresh)
8-16 oz. cool whip

1.) Whisk together the chocolate pudding and the cold milk until it thickens.
2.) Puree the strawberries in a blender. (If you're using frozen --thaw them and be sure to drain them before you puree.)
3.) Fold the cool whip into the strawberry puree. (I used about 10 oz.)
4.) Starting with the chocolate pudding, then stawberries, layer into individual containers. (The kids and I just used plastic cups--nothing fancy).
5.) Covered each one with saran wrap so they didn't get that 'film' layer from the air hitting the pudding. --Pop them into the fridge to set up!

Bulldog --Full Sheet Cake

When I learned how to decorate cakes "the Wilton way", I leaned how to do pattern transfers with piping gel....never thinking to draw onto the waxed paper with buttercream and then pop it into the freezer for a few hours! It works well, as long as you do a thick layer of buttercream behind your actual design for support.

Candy Corn Sign

I thought about selling this candy corn sign, but I honsetly don't think I can part with it! A LOT of work went into these 'lil guys! ..Tracing out the pattern, cutting it w/ the scroll saw, sanding it, and then finally getting to paint it and bring it to life!

Calla Lily Wedding Cake

This was such a "simple" cake --which is why it was so complicated for me! I LOVED how they decorated around the cake table! The colors matched up perfectly!
